Auqib Nabi on receiving maiden call-up: ‘…I couldn’t believe it’

Jammu and Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi was recently called up for the series against Sri Lanka, starting on Saturday. He replaced the injured Jasprit Bumrah in the squad. Bumrah informed Nabi of his selection while he was at the airport, heading to Bangalore for a camp at the Centre of Excellence (CoE). Nabi expressed his disbelief at first, as the squad had already been announced.

Despite this, he acknowledged his expectations and the importance of performing well to earn his place in the team. Nabi has been putting in consistent performances in domestic cricket for the past couple of years and now believes his hard work is finally paying off. He is grateful for the opportunity and is excited for his family to share in his happiness.

Nabi had a chance to play in the warm-up game last week, and he found the atmosphere in the dressing room to be exceptional, as he was able to share it with his teammates, who are often seen on television.
