Anthropic is in talks to buy AI infrastructure startup Decart for $6 billion

Anthropic is reportedly in talks to acquire AI startup Decart AI, with a potential purchase price of around six billion dollars, according to Bloomberg financial news agency. Insider sources state that while negotiations are ongoing, a final deal has not been secured and could still fall through. Should the merger occur, it would be the largest known acquisition of Anthropic, preceding its anticipated initial public offering.

Decart specializes in developing software that aims to make AI model training more cost-effective by optimizing chip utilization, potentially enabling Anthropic to scale its existing infrastructure and manage increased demand more efficiently. The company has been heavily investing in computing power to develop new products and serve clients.

Information indicates that Decart's team is expected to join Anthropic's inference and performance division. Additionally, Decart is working on generative video AI, utilizing "World Models" capable of modifying live video streams in real-time. Both companies declined to comment. Decart completed a $300 million funding round in May, led by Radical Ventures, with participation from Nvidia, Atreides Management, Valor Equity Partners, and Adobe Ventures.

Previous investors, including Sequoia Capital, Benchmark, and Zeev Ventures, also participated. The funding round valued Decart at nearly four billion dollars, following a $3.1 billion valuation in August 2025.
