Anthropic in talks to buy startup Decart AI for $6 bn

Anthropic is engaged in discussions to acquire the artificial intelligence startup Decart AI for approximately $6 billion, according to sources familiar with the matter. The acquisition, which is not yet finalized, could prevent talks from falling through, according to the sources. If the deal goes through, it would represent Anthropic's largest known acquisition before its impending initial public offering.

Decart's software technology can make artificial intelligence model training more cost-effective by improving chip efficiency. This could help Anthropic's existing infrastructure handle increased demand. Anthropic, which typically does not make large acquisitions, has been investing heavily in computing power to develop new products and serve customers.

Decart's team would join Anthropic's inference and performance organization, one of the sources noted. Decart also specializes in generative video technology, utilizing world models that can modify live video feeds instantly, showcasing high-quality infrastructure talent. In May, Decart raised $300 million in funding led by Radical Ventures, with Nvidia, Atreides Management, Valor Equity Partners, and Adobe Ventures participating.

The startup, founded in 2023 by brothers Dean and Orian Leitersdorf and Moshe Shalev, was valued at nearly $4 billion in May, up from $3.1 billion in August 2025.
