Ambulance Delay Forces Woman To Deliver Baby On Roadside In Dhar

Dhar (Madhya Pradesh): A woman gave birth to a baby girl on the roadside near Gujri government hospital in Dhar district on Thursday due to a delayed ambulance, according to local reports. The incident took place in Bharudpur Utawali village of Dharampuri tehsil when Sangeeta Bai experienced labor pains in the morning. Despite contacting the emergency ambulance service, her family was informed that the ambulance had already been dispatched to Nalchha and would take at least three hours to return.

The family decided to arrange private transport and headed towards Gujri hospital, but around 200 meters away, the situation worsened as her pain intensified. The vehicle had to be stopped, and she delivered the baby on the roadside. Neighbors and a former health worker, Nirmala Bai, quickly came to her aid, setting up a makeshift privacy screen using sarees and blankets before helping with the delivery.

Dr Jyoti Chauhan confirmed that there were medical staff available at the hospital; however, the woman couldn't reach the facility in time due to the lack of timely transportation. Dr Kirti Borasi held the ambulance management responsible for the delay and reported the issue in writing to the Chief Medical Officer (CMHO). Both the mother and her newborn are reported to be safe and in stable condition, receiving care at the hospital.
