Police Use AI to Track Down Deepfake Crimes with 'Triple Verification'... 419 Suspects Apprehended This Year The police have been actively utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to combat deepfake crimes, implementing a 'triple verification' system to track down perpetrators. According to the National Police Agency on the 4th, a total of 419 suspects were apprehended this year for deepfake-related crimes as of November 27th. The 'triple verification' system involves the use of AI to detect, analyze, and track deepfake content. The police have been employing this system since July of last year, and it has been applied in 83 cases so far. In particular, AI-based facial recognition technology has been used to identify 83 individuals, and 73 cases have been solved using AI-based analysis of voice and lip movements. In addition, the police have been able to track down 258 individuals through online tracking of digital evidence. The police plan to continue strengthening their response to deepfake crimes by expanding the use of AI and enhancing their analysis capabilities. The National Police Agency stated, "We will make it difficult for criminals to escape detection by continuously improving our deepfake detection and analysis capabilities."
