Adamus mining assets not for sale after lease revocation – Government

The government has rejected suggestions that revoking Adamus Resources Limited's mining leases is an attempt to sell off the company or its assets. According to the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, the decision to revoke the leases was a regulatory action taken due to "consequential breaches" of Ghana's mining laws, financial obligations, and regulatory requirements.

The government stated that there are currently no plans to sell Adamus Resources Limited or its mining assets. The revocation of the leases was based on findings from a review by the Minerals Commission, which identified several violations of mining regulations, such as mining outside permitted areas without the required operating permit.

The government also cited outstanding financial obligations and defaults by Adamus Resources Limited. The Ministry emphasized that revocation is a regulatory decision, not a sale, and that the government's responsibility is to ensure that Ghana's mineral resources are exploited in accordance with the law and in the best interest of Ghanaians.

The government aims to restore the mine's operations, protect jobs, address outstanding worker payments, resolve safety concerns, and get the processing plant operational again.
