2027: Nigerians will vote APC out if polls are free, fair – PRP chair

Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), has predicted that Nigerians will vote against the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections, as long as the poll is conducted freely and fairly. During an interview on DITV/Alheri Radio in Kaduna, Baba-Ahmed emphasized that the primary focus of the APC should be the Nigerian electorate, who hold the ultimate power to decide the election outcome. He stated that opposition parties are not the real threat they portray themselves to be.

Baba-Ahmed argued that the fear of a free and fair election among the APC leadership stems from the belief that Nigerians will not choose them. He noted that political parties do not determine election results; it is the will of the citizens that ultimately matters. The PRP chairman further cautioned opposition politicians against forming alliances solely for the purpose of removing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu without a clear and substantive plan for governance.

He warned against supporting candidates merely based on their desire to become president, insisting that any political coalition within the PRP must have a well-defined agenda for tackling Nigeria's pressing issues, such as insecurity, poverty, hunger, and other forms of citizen suffering.

Baba-Ahmed highlighted the PRP's commitment to carefully scrutinizing potential political alliances ahead of the 2027 general elections to ensure that they are based on genuine intentions rather than personal ambitions. He acknowledged that it is possible to identify deception and distinguish between parties with genuine ambitions and those driven by personal interests.
