‘We are all victims of the system’: AISA chief Neha Bora on political accountability, scrapping NTA

All India Students' Association (AISA) President Neha Bora has called for scrapping the National Testing Agency (NTA) and rolling back the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, in a bid to address centralisation of public examinations and alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations. The AISA launched the "Gen-Z Rising" campaign to spread awareness across several states, with Bora travelling to Ranchi, Kolkata, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru and other cities.

Bora argued that the examination system should be challenged collectively, citing the negative impact of centralised exams on students from public education systems. She also defended the demand for political accountability, stating that elected representatives could be held responsible through sustained public mobilisation. Bora called for addressing the systemic problems created by the centralisation of examinations, arguing that simply increasing penalties for examination malpractice would not be enough.

She also condemned the violence against journalists during the Kolkata protest, but criticised sections of the mainstream media for sensationalisation and media trials.
