Wagner Moura and Greta Lee fight for survival in new thriller ‘The Last House’

In the psychological thriller "The Last House," Greta Lee and Wagner Moura portray a married couple who must fight for survival within their home after being trapped inside. The emotionally charged performance by Lee, who previously starred in the critically acclaimed "Past Lives," was one of the film's biggest challenges. To help her achieve authenticity, she worked with an actual survivalist who explained the physiological changes that occur during a crisis.

Directed by Louis Leterrier, known for "Now You See Me" and "Fast X," the movie follows the family's struggle to survive as they run out of supplies and face an unknown external threat. The entire production took place within a single set that deteriorated throughout the filming, mirroring the characters' deteriorating situation.

Moura praised the set's engineering marvel, particularly the transformation of the house into an underwater environment. Leterrier admitted that this was the most challenging film he has ever directed, noting that it pushed everyone involved to their limits. Beyond the suspense, Leterrier aimed to provoke viewers to reflect on themes of consumerism and greed, encouraging them to contemplate how they would survive such a situation in their own homes.

Moura joked that he would be unable to fix anything in such a scenario, while Lee agreed that his character from "Narcos" would be better off sticking to his day job.
