Versicherer: Hannover Rück steigert Gewinn und hält an Jahresziel fest

Hannover Rück, the world's third-largest insurance company, has reported a seven percent increase in net profit for the first half of the year, reaching 1.4 billion euros. The insurer maintains its target of at least a 2.7 billion euro net profit for the full year, according to a statement released on Wednesday. The profit for the second quarter exceeded analyst expectations, with 695 million euros reported (compared to 833 million euros in the same period last year).

The company's performance in the renewal of policies in the property insurance segment on July 1st, despite declining prices, resulted in a twelve percent increase in business. Despite a four-point-five percent drop in adjusted prices, the insurer drew in twelve percent more business. The revenue in the primary sector remained relatively stable, with a slight increase of only 0.2 percent when adjusted for exchange rates during the first half of the year. However, the management is still optimistic about a five percent growth for the entire year.

In contrast, Munich Re, a major competitor, reported significantly less business and reduced its sales forecast. It is worth noting that data centers are booming but also face increased risks from natural disasters.
