US, Iran Extend Islamabad Ceasefire

The United States and Iran have decided to extend their ceasefire beyond the initial 60-day period stipulated in the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, according to reports from a Turkish state media agency. This extension is seen as a major diplomatic achievement, as it helps maintain the truce established following weeks of heightened tensions and contributes to regional stability.

Pakistan has been actively involved in facilitating this agreement, with senior Pakistani officials regularly communicating with both Washington and Tehran to promote the continuation of the ceasefire and avert a new escalation. Earlier this month, Pakistan's Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, traveled to Tehran to deliver a special message from the Pakistani government to Iranian leaders.

The reported extension of the ceasefire is scheduled to occur just before the original deadline was set to end, thereby granting more time for diplomatic efforts aimed at establishing a more permanent understanding between the United States and Iran. As of now, neither the US nor Iran has officially acknowledged the reported extension.
