Ukrainian drones attack southern Russia. 8-year-old child killed, homes and businesses damaged.

On August 12, Ukrainian drones launched an attack on Russia's Krasnodar Krai, targeting the cities of Novorossiysk, Anapa, Gelendzhik, and the Temryuk District. Governor Veniamin Kondratyev reported that "several hundred" drones struck these areas. An 8-year-old child lost their life during the assault on Novorossiysk, while eight others sustained injuries.

The attack damaged 21 residential buildings, including apartment complexes, and caused harm to four businesses. In the village of Volna, situated in the Temryuk District, debris from the drones fell onto a private property, resulting in the death of a man. Additionally, a residential building in Anapa was damaged, causing injuries to two individuals.

Gelendzhik also faced damage to three private homes, with two people injured in the process. Gelendzhik's public school was also affected, with damages noted. In total, the independent Telegram channel Astra assessed that the public school in Novorossiysk was damaged during the attack. The Ukrainian Telegram channel Exilenova+ claimed that the Novorossiysk Grain Products Plant, the largest deep-water grain terminal in the seaport, was targeted.

Another Ukrainian channel, Supernova+, reported a fire at the port of Novorossiysk. Over 30 drones also struck Sevastopol, according to Mikhail Razvozhaev, the Kremlin-appointed head of the occupied city. While no injuries were reported in Sevastopol, damage was recorded in three apartment buildings and five private homes. Russia's Defense Ministry stated that its air defenses successfully intercepted and shot down 502 Ukrainian drones overnight across Russian regions and occupied Crimea.
