UAE residents to ring in 2027 with three-day weekend as holiday dates revealed

UAE residents will be celebrating the New Year with a three-day weekend, starting from Friday, January 1. Consequently, the very first working day of the year will be Monday, January 4. Meanwhile, Ramadan is anticipated to commence on February 8. Eid Al Fitr, signifying the conclusion of the fasting month, is set to begin on March 9 and may extend for either three or four days.

Upon sighting the Shawwal crescent moon, the 30th day could be added to Eid, resulting in a four-day holiday. This would, in turn, grant residents a six-day break including the weekend that follows the holiday. Subsequent to this holiday, Arafah Day, one of the most sacred days in Islam, will be observed, followed by Eid Al Adha, which adds another three days of holiday.

The Islamic New Year is projected to occur on June 6, depending on moon sighting, and the holiday commemorating the Prophet Mohammed’s birthday is expected to be August 14, 2027. School term schedules indicate that schools in the UAE will reopen for the new academic year on August 31, providing parents and guardians ample time to plan their holidays for the subsequent 12 months.

The first half-term recess will span from October 12 to October 18, while the winter break commences on December 14. Pupils will resume their studies on January 4, with the Eid Al Fitr holiday in March followed by a spring break from April 5 to April 11. Notably, July 2, 2027, will mark the final academic day of the year.
