Two accused flee Kulim court, one slides down pillar to escape police

KULIM, Aug 12 — Two men involved in a court case at the Kulim Magistrate's Court managed to escape after being spotted by police waiting to re-arrest them. The incident unfolded at approximately 10am following the completion of court proceedings and document submission. Both accused, aged 27 and 31, were charged under Sections 324 and 353 of the Penal Code and had been granted bail pending trial, having appeared in court on April 30.

The first accused was released on RM4,000 bail, while the second was granted RM3,000 bail. Their re-mention for the trial was scheduled for June 8, July 12, and the day of the incident for document submission and case management. Upon exiting through the rear door after the proceedings, one of the accused immediately slid down a pillar on the first floor, while the other re-entered the building and fled through the rear route, later escaping by climbing over the rear fence.

Police are actively searching for the two men. A 24-second video displaying chaotic scenes at the Kulim Court Complex went viral, showing a man believed to be one of the accused climbing over a fence before escaping.
