Trump says US has 'total control' over Strait of Hormuz, distrusts Iran

In a recent interview, US President Donald Trump declared that the United States possesses absolute control over the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. He emphasized that no other nation holds such authority over this crucial maritime route. During a meeting with reporters, Trump stated, "We have total control over the Strait of Hormuz. We control it—no one else, just us," underscoring his profound distrust of Iran. He further declared, "I am the last person who would trust Iran. They have lied to me repeatedly."

The President attributed the recent rise in tensions between Washington and Tehran to the ongoing dispute about transit rights in the strait. He detailed three possible courses of action for addressing the current situation. The first option involves continuing to apply pressure on Iran and monitoring the worsening state of its economy, marked by a staggering 300% inflation rate and a drastic depreciation of the national currency.

The second option suggests launching aggressive strikes against Iran. The third option recommends imposing additional economic sanctions, which Washington is already beginning to enforce.

Trump made clear that the US maintains control over Iran's financial assets, commenting, "They used to have a lot, and we have total control over it... I am their banker," highlighting the extent of economic leverage Washington wields over Tehran.
