British Prime Minister Andy Burnham has expressed profound sorrow over the death of Jason Arday, a Cambridge University professor who was the institution's youngest Black professor. The tragedy, Burnham emphasized, is multi-faceted, particularly for those who knew Arday personally and professionally. Arday tragically passed away at the age of 41 after being found dead.

Burnham, speaking on Saturday, made it clear that this is a time for reflection and not for rushed judgments. The prime minister highlighted the need to reflect on the events that led to this unfortunate outcome, urging people to consider how such situations arose. Arday's family had previously stated that he was a victim of misinformation and harassment.

Arday resigned from his position as a professor of sociology of education at Cambridge earlier this month following accusations of plagiarism in parts of his PhD thesis. He vehemently denied these allegations. Cambridge University has announced it will investigate the circumstances surrounding Arday's appointment and his work at the Faculty of Education, following the controversy.
