On the 12th, the city shared on a social media platform that 'Baram' had lived a new life in the city and had completed her long journey. For several days, she had not eaten and health issues had been discovered.

The veterinarians confirmed this. The city announced that 'Baram' had been given a better life when she entered the Changju Zoo in July 2023, and gradually regained her health. However, sadly she left our side. 'Baram' was not just a lion story, but also a valuable message of love for animals in general. All who have cared for 'Baram' are thanked.

The Changju Zoo has a special place for 'Baram' and her memories. She was the 'Rat Bone' lion known for her thin body. The city of Changju took her in from the Korean port city of Gimhae in July 2023. The zoo had been asked to rescue the 'thin-boned' lion by animal protection organizations. 'Baram' was over 100 years old in human years when she was rescued.

But after coming to Changju, she quickly adapted to life and within a year, her lion-like appearance returned. The zoo also brought 'Cloud', 'Baram's daughter', to live with her. 'Cloud' was born in 2017 to 'Baram' and another female lion in a different zoo in Gimhae. 'Cloud' had lived in a zoo in Gangwon's Gangneung after 'Baram' was rescued.

'Baram' and 'Cloud' got married after 411 days together. 'Baram' joined the Changju Zoo's lone female lion 'Dodo' (14) and they lived together. 'Dodo' had undergone sterilization surgery due to health concerns and had been living solo. 'Baram and Cloud' raised a family of two for two years. But now, as 'Baram' has left, only 'Cloud' and 'Dodo' remain as a family. The news of 'Baram's' departure was met with heartfelt tributes from citizens of Changju.
