Star open to Warisan cooperation but remains aligned with GRS - Jeffrey

KOTA KINABALU: Star Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) maintains its alignment with the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS)-led state government, according to its president Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan. Jeffrey acknowledged reports that Warisan was contemplating potential cooperation with Star and KDM before the upcoming general election.

He emphasized that it is perfectly acceptable for individuals to express their opinions and collaborate towards a common goal for the benefit of Sabah. Jeffrey expressed pride in the perception of Star as a significant political player in the forthcoming polls. He stated that Star remains aligned with the present ruling state government.

Jeffrey, serving as the Tambunan assemblyman, had previously resigned from Star's membership within the GRS prior to the Sabah election in November of the previous year. Nonetheless, he was appointed chairman of the Sabah Agricultural Marketing Authority (SAMA) on April 10 of this year. Star's acting deputy president and Bingkor assemblyman Datuk Mohd Ishak Ayub serves as an assistant finance minister in the Sabah government.

At the Kaamatan festivities, Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal joined Jeffrey at his harvest festival in Tambunan, while KDM acting president Priscella Peter was seen at a Warisan celebration in Bukit Kokol nearby. Both leaders claimed they were attending the respective events. In the Dewan Rakyat, Jeffrey is the lone Star MP, representing Keningau, whereas KDM's Datuk Wetrom Bahanda represents Kota Marudu. KDM is reportedly preparing a statement on the latest political developments.
