Single opposition candidate: Galadima, ADC differ, APGA backs Tinubu

Two Nigerian political figures, Buba Galadima and Salisu Lukman, expressed contrasting opinions regarding the G-100's proposal for a single opposition candidate in the 2027 Nigerian presidential election. Galadima, a prominent member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), welcomed the idea, emphasizing that electability and the ability to effectively serve as president should be primary considerations when selecting a candidate.

He cautioned against prioritizing selfish motives or personal gains. However, Lukman, the leader of G-100, argued that an alliance of opposition parties is not the key to defeating President Bola Tinubu, stating that the party's vision requires a broad-based and inclusive government. The ADC and APGA, which backs Tinubu, have taken opposing stances on the matter, with the former advocating for a united front and the latter emphasizing the importance of collaboration with any party that shares similar goals.

Meanwhile, the G-100 is set to host a summit in Abuja on August 18, 2026, aiming to foster unity among Nigerian opposition parties prior to the 2027 elections.
