Sharjah Police nab lorry driver who hid number plate with mud to evade traffic cameras

Sharjah Police have apprehended a lorry driver who attempted to evade traffic cameras by obscuring his vehicle's registration plate with mud. The driver was identified through Sharjah Police's comprehensive traffic surveillance network, which employs cameras, monitoring systems and digital technologies to cover the entire emirate.

The surveillance system detected and tracked the vehicle, enabling specialist teams to conduct searches and field follow-up operations, ultimately leading to the identification of the lorry and its driver.

During the investigation, it was discovered that the driver had deliberately concealed the number plate to gain unauthorized entry into several roads where lorries are prohibited. The vehicle and its driver were subsequently dealt with according to the relevant legal procedures. Sharjah Police emphasized that attempts to obscure vehicle number plates, conceal their details or bypass traffic enforcement systems would not deter authorities, given the emirate's advanced monitoring network.

The force pledged to maintain vigilance on Sharjah's roads and take stringent action against behaviors that endanger road safety.

The police urged motorists, especially those driving heavy vehicles, to adhere to designated routes, timings, and roads, as well as traffic laws and regulations. They stressed that compliance helps reduce offenses, accidents, and protects all road users.
