Shakira, Burna Boy’s ‘Dai Dai’ becomes highest charting World Cup song in history

Shakira and Burna Boy have set a new record with their song "Dai Dai (FIFA World Cup Official Song 2026)" becoming the highest-charting official World Cup song on the Billboard Hot 100. The track rose from No. 42 to No. 17 on August 1, making it the first official World Cup song to crack the top 20. This achievement surpasses Shakira's previous hit "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)" which peaked at No. 38 on the Hot 100 in 2010.

"Dai Dai" has already achieved significant success, topping both the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts, showing its broad appeal beyond football fans. The song racked up 8.6 million official streams in the U.S., a 69% rise, alongside 13.9 million radio listeners and 7,000 sales during July 17–23. Its momentum has been boosted by performances at the World Cup opening ceremony and the final, with Shakira, Burna Boy, Justin Bieber, BTS, and Madonna joining in a 11-minute halftime show in New Jersey.

For Shakira, this marks her 13th top-40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 over nearly 25 years. Burna Boy, meanwhile, achieves his second top-40 entry and his first as a lead artiste.
