Russian drone strike completely destroys Epicentr shopping center in Zaporizhzhia

A Russian drone attack destroyed a massive Epicentr shopping center in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine, on August 12. The entire 20,000 square meter complex was reduced to rubble, according to Yuliia Chudnovets, the company's head of public relations. No one was harmed in the attack. The Epicentr shopping center had previously been a Nova Liniia hypermarket before its acquisition by the company in 2013.

In 2021, Epicentr carried out a major renovation of the property. This attack adds to the growing list of Russian strikes against Epicentr retail space since the beginning of the war. As of now, nearly 500,000 square meters of Epicentr retail space has been damaged, with 417,000 square meters completely destroyed. Just a week prior to this latest attack on August 5, Russian forces targeted Epicentr's production and logistics infrastructure, halting operations at the Epicentr Ceramic Corporation plant.

The company plans to relocate production to two facilities abroad. On July 21, a Russian strike destroyed another Epicentr shopping center in Sumy, covering an area of 23,000 square meters. Epicentr employees remain unharmed after these attacks.
