Russia intensifies warehouse attacks, hitting at least 20 Ukrainian businesses — infographic

In late July, Russia escalated its assaults on warehouses and logistics centers belonging to Ukrainian enterprises, culminating in a devastating attack on Aug. 5. The strikes in Brovary, Bucha, and Fastiv districts of Kyiv Oblast ignited extensive fires. On Aug. 6, the death toll from the attack in Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast rose to 17, with 8 victims losing their lives near the Kvitneva railway station after being struck by a ballistic missile.

The BBC reported that the victims had abandoned the targeted warehouses following an air raid warning and were awaiting a train.

To better understand the extent of the damage, NV compiled data on Russian strikes targeting major Ukrainian businesses and warehouses, including the massive attack on Aug. 5. Between 2022 and 2026, Russia had destroyed approximately 920,000 square meters (9.9 million square feet) of warehouse space in Ukraine, accounting for 29.7% of the country's total warehouse area prior to the full-scale invasion.

Over the past 12 months alone, more than 500,000 square meters (5.4 million square feet) of logistics real estate had been damaged.

Kyiv Oblast has borne the brunt of the destruction, with the region accounting for 28% of all warehouse space destroyed nationwide. Russian forces have razed half of the oblast's warehouse space since the invasion commenced. From late July to August 2026, at least 20 significant Ukrainian businesses suffered losses due to Russian attacks.
