Rs 25,000 secret loan triggered Suriya’s debut, started acting because family needed money

Tamil film actor Suriya recently revealed that he entered the acting industry due to his family's financial struggles. The conversation, shared by Sithara Entertainment, detailed Suriya's journey, stating that acting was never part of his plan. Suriya, currently promoting his upcoming film Vishwanath and Sons, admitted he learned everything on set and slowly developed a passion for cinema.

Suriya made his debut in 1997's Nerrukku Ner at the age of 22, produced by Mani Ratnam. Before his acting career, he worked in the garment industry for almost three years, making around Rs 8,000 monthly. However, his financial situation changed when he learned his mother had taken a Rs 25,000 loan to help the family. Suriya also shared a story about an incident when he realized how much he resembled his father, leading him to stop watching his father's films to avoid repeating his mannerisms.

Suriya's father, Sivakumar, a veteran in Tamil cinema, has noted the shift in the family dynamic since Suriya's success.
