'Rot in prison', relatives tell double murderer and rapist

The families of victims and a survivor have expressed their dismay at the sentencing of double murderer and serial sex offender Simon Levy. The 49-year-old was jailed for life on Wednesday after admitting to the brutal murders of two women and the rape of another, all while he was on bail for previous sex assaults.

At Wednesday's hearing in court, the families of the two murdered women and the rape survivor addressed Levy directly, condemning him as a "parasite" who does not deserve to be given any more of their time or words. Lindsey Hicks, a survivor of one of the attacks, tearfully stated that Levy's actions had destroyed her sister's life and that there will never be enough words to express the pain she feels.

Sheryl Wilkins, a mother of four, was murdered in August 2025, just one day before her 40th birthday. Her sister Mary Wilkins told the court that their Sheryl's death had meant Levy could no longer hurt anyone else, saving potential lives. Wilkins added that she believed the sentence would bring justice for their daughter, who had so many hopes and dreams.

The murder of Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo, Levy's second victim, was also sexually motivated. The 53-year-old grandmother was found dead in a largely abandoned block of flats on the Aylesbury estate in south-east London. The police's handling of the case has raised questions about why Levy was repeatedly released on bail despite multiple attacks on women. Judge Mark Lucraft KC sentenced Levy to a whole life term, condemning him for his "ruthless exploitation of others" and his "morbid fascination with sex, rape, and crime".
