Root removes curfew, tells teammates, ‘Let’s be adults, look after yourselves’

England's Test captain Joe Root has lifted the curfew placed on the team, urging his teammates to act like mature adults. The curfew was initiated following drinking-related issues during the tour of New Zealand and Australia. It had previously come under scrutiny during a recent series against New Zealand, leading to incidents involving former captain Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson.

This resulted in Stokes leaving the side temporarily before returning to captain the third Test, where he announced his international retirement. McCullum, once the head coach of the Test team, was subsequently replaced by Stephen Fleming, who currently manages the team. Root, who will captain the team for the upcoming series against Pakistan, stated that he believes curfews are not effective and that players should act responsibly and make mature decisions.

Root emphasized that the team needs to self-police and manage their behavior both on and off the field, focusing on their cricketing performance rather than their off-field activities.
