Premier Mokgosi reshuffles North West provincial cabinet

North West Premier Lazarus Mokgosi has announced a significant reshuffle of his provincial cabinet. This marks the first major change to the cabinet since the Seventh Administration came into power in 2024. The changes were introduced in Mahikeng on Wednesday.

Wessels Morweng, who previously held the position of Community Safety and Transport Management, has been reassigned to the Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation portfolio. Virginia Tlhapi, who was the MEC for Community Safety and Transport Management, will now oversee Community Safety and Transport Management.

Education MEC Viola Motsumi has been removed from her position and replaced by Desbo Mohono. Mohono, who served as the Speaker of the provincial legislature, will now be the Education MEC. Premier Mokgosi confirmed the changes, stating that he had spoken with the Speaker of the legislature, Dr Desbo Mohono, who agreed to take on the Education portfolio in the province.
