Police arrest suspected kidnapper withdrawing ransom at Kwara POS terminal

The Kwara State Police Command has successfully apprehended a suspected kidnapper, Muhamodu Sanni, who was allegedly attempting to withdraw ransom money at a Point-of-Sale (POS) terminal in Ilorin East Local Government Area. The arrest came after the command received intelligence about the abduction of three individuals in Obudu Village on July 28, 2026.

According to a statement from the Public Relations Officer, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the investigation expanded to include financial, logistics, and communication channels associated with the abduction. This led to the arrest of Sanni at the POS terminal while he was allegedly attempting to cash out the ransom proceeds linked to the recent kidnapping.

During the interrogation, Sanni reportedly provided valuable information about the ransom collection and identified two additional suspects, Aminu and Umar. His cooperation further strengthened the intelligence picture of the criminal network and provided new operational leads for the police.

The command's proactive approach, under the leadership of Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu and Commissioner of Police Ojo Adekimi, has reportedly disrupted criminal networks and degraded their capabilities. The police urge the public to continue providing timely, credible, and actionable information to aid in their ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities.
