Perak police crack two cases: Armed robbery of Langkap woman, and Teluk Intan fishing shop break-in where one suspect is only 13

IPOH, August 12 — A local man has been arrested for allegedly participating in an armed robbery of a 69-year-old woman in Langkap, near Teluk Intan. According to Hilir Perak District Police chief ACP Chua Kok Lian, the victim reported the incident to the police around 4 am, stating that a man armed with a machete had stolen a gold bracelet from her, causing injuries and resulting in losses estimated at RM6,000.

Following the report and further investigations, a 32-year-old man was arrested at about 2:30 am the previous day in Slim River. He was remanded for seven days until August 17 to assist in the investigation under Section 394 of the Penal Code for causing hurt during the robbery.

A separate incident occurred when two local men were arrested for allegedly breaking into a fishing equipment shop on Jalan Changkat Jong, Teluk Intan, on July 30. The shop owner discovered that the premises had been forced open and that fishing equipment worth about RM8,000 was missing. Police conducted investigations and intelligence operations, leading to the arrest of the two suspects aged 13 and 19 in separate raids.

They will be charged under Section 414 of the Penal Code at the Teluk Intan Magistrate's Court today after further investigations and the recovery of items believed to be linked to the case.
