Pakistan condemns Houthi strike that killed 3 of its citizens

Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar condemned the Houthi attack on a commercial vessel in the Red Sea, which resulted in the deaths of three Pakistani citizens and one Indonesian national. Dar expressed deep concern over the unfortunate incident in a post on X, confirming the loss of life and injury sustained in the attack. Pakistan holds a defense pact with Saudi Arabia, which was recently expanded to include Turkey, and is currently mediating between Iran and the United States to seek a resolution to the ongoing hostilities.

Dar stated that Pakistan is in contact with Saudi authorities and the internationally recognized government of Yemen to gather further details about the incident. Pakistan maintains that its defense pact with Saudi Arabia and Turkey is purely defensive in nature and not targeted against any specific country. Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is currently in Iran to discuss regional security concerns, following the collapse of a year-long truce in Yemen's civil war between the Houthi rebels and Saudi-backed government.
