Osun poll: It’s Adeleke against Tinubu, not APC – Momodu

Dele Momodu, a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has declared his support for incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke in the upcoming Osun State governorship election on August 15. Momodu, speaking to Channels Television, argued that the election is not a contest between Adeleke and the All Progressives Congress (APC), but rather between the incumbent and President Bola Tinubu.

The ADC chieftain explained that his support for Adeleke aligns with his commitment to the coalition of opposition parties that the party aims to unite. Momodu, who joined the ADC to promote this coalition, noted that he had consulted party elders before backing Adeleke. He emphasized that the battle in Osun State is between Adeleke and Tinubu, stating that "the APC is no match for Ademola Adeleke."

Momodu acknowledged his long-standing friendship with Adeleke, describing him as a "twin brother," and urged people from all political parties to support the governor, who he claims is being "bullied" and "intimidated." Despite the ADC having its own candidate, Najeem Salam, Momodu appealed to the party to support Adeleke, expressing his disappointment if they did not.

The Osun governorship election will see Adeleke contesting against Bola Oyebamiji of the APC and Najeem Salam of the ADC for re-election.
