One dead, five injured in fatal crash at Asubuo on Accra-Kumasi highway

A fatal road accident at Asubuo on the Accra-Kumasi Highway claimed one life and left five others injured, according to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS). The incident occurred on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, involving a Kia Rhino and a MAN Diesel truck. Emergency responders, including firefighters from the Suhum Municipal Fire Station, were called to the scene after learning a person was trapped in the Kia Rhino.

After using specialized equipment to free the trapped occupant, the injured person was taken to the Suhum Government Hospital for treatment. The GNFS reported that five individuals sustained injuries of varying severity from the crash. A male pedestrian died at the scene after reportedly being struck during the accident. The GNFS is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, and they have called on motorists to exercise caution on the Accra-Kumasi Highway, particularly given the high traffic volumes. This incident adds to growing concerns over road safety on one of Ghana’s busiest highways.
