Occupiers execute at least 345 Ukrainian soldiers, another 375 die in captivity – ombudsman

The Ukrainian Parliament's Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, has reported that at least 345 Ukrainian soldiers executed by Russian troops have been repatriated, with an additional 375 Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilian hostages dying in Russian captivity. Lubinets detailed the circumstances leading to these deaths during a press conference titled "Countering Russian disinformation."

The Russian Federation has been accused of repatriating the bodies of 375 Ukrainian citizens who were held captive, with Lubinets emphasizing that the victims were verified by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) as having been detained by Russia. These individuals were tortured and killed in Olenivka, where at least 53 Ukrainian prisoners of war were publicly executed on the night of July 28-29, 2022.

Additionally, there have been at least 345 cases of Ukrainian soldiers surrendering and being executed by Russian forces since the start of the full-scale invasion. According to the Geneva Convention, once a soldier lays down their weapons and follows the specified procedures, they automatically become a prisoner of war, and their execution is considered a violation of international humanitarian law.
