Norwegian foreign minister to visit Pakistan on August 13-14

Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide is set to embark on an official visit to Pakistan on August 13 and 14, marking the first such trip for a Norwegian foreign minister in over a decade, as announced by the Foreign Office on Wednesday. The delegation will comprise Ishaq Dar, Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, alongside Eide.

The visit aims to delve into a broad range of topics encompassing Pakistan-Norway relations, including trade and investment expansion, climate change efforts, renewable energy advancement, educational initiatives, and fostering people-to-people connections. Additionally, the ministers will engage in discussions about significant regional and global developments.

This visit occurs amidst a series of high-level interactions between Pakistan and Norway, such as recent telephone conversations between their respective foreign ministers in March and April 2026, and Norway's State Secretary Andreas Motzfeldt Kravik's previous visit to Islamabad in May. The Foreign Office highlights this visit as a chance to reinforce the enduring and amicable ties between the two nations while exploring fresh avenues for mutually advantageous collaboration.
