Noida airport's ‘Varanasi Ghats’ floods after rain

Heavy rain left Noida International Airport's "Varanasi Ghats" forecourt waterlogged on Tuesday, prompting online jokes about the newly opened international gateway turning into a "seaport." The waterlogged area, designed to resemble the ghats of the holy city of Varanasi, quickly became the center of attention after videos circulated on social media.

Airport teams responded promptly, using pumps to clear the water within 30 minutes, with no impact on flight operations or passenger movement. Despite the incident, the airport continued to operate normally, handling passenger traffic through alternative routes while the passage was restored. The airport's CEO, RK Singh, stated that the waterlogging was limited to the parking area and did not affect the runway or apron.

The incident has sparked questions about the airport's drainage system and construction quality, with some political parties criticizing the government for alleged corruption in the project's execution.
