NIS, NDLEA deepen partnership with Ogun pilgrims board ahead of 2027 HAJJ

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Ogun State Command, and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have pledged to enhance cooperation with the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board (OGMPWB) as preparations advance for the 2027 Hajj. This commitment was established during individual meetings between the agencies and the Pilgrims Board management in Abeokuta.

During these engagements, stakeholders emphasized the significance of early planning, effective coordination, and adequate awareness among intending pilgrims. Ganiyu Oladele, the Ogun State Comptroller of Immigration, affirmed the NIS's willingness to maintain a productive partnership with the Board. He assured pilgrims that passport processing would be prioritized in accordance with the requirements and timelines for the 2027 Hajj operations, stressing the importance of early preparation and collaboration to prevent unforeseen difficulties during the pilgrimage.

In response, Taiwo Ajibola, the Executive Secretary of OGMPWB, acknowledged the NIS as a vital partner in Hajj administration and expressed appreciation for the command's support over the years. Ajibola called for a more enduring partnership to improve information sharing, streamline passport documentation processes, and elevate services for prospective pilgrims.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Command of the NDLEA has also vowed to bolster its collaboration with the Pilgrims Board by educating intending pilgrims about the perils and legal repercussions of drug trafficking. Commander Tijani Rabe, the State Commander of NDLEA, assured the Board of the agency's commitment to enlightening pilgrims on drug-related offences under Nigerian and Saudi Arabian laws.

Rabe cautioned pilgrims to remain vigilant and steer clear of actions that could lead to legal ramifications or harm Nigeria's reputation during international engagements.
