New Rakyat Digital Portal Launched With Literacy And Skill Hubs, Free AI Subscription Opportunities

The Malaysian government has recently launched a new digital portal called Rakyat Digital. This comprehensive update merges various initiatives aimed at enhancing digital literacy and skills into a single unified platform. The primary objective is to prepare Malaysians for the nation's AI-driven future. Developed by the Ministry of Digital through MyDIGITAL Corporation, the portal acts as the country's digital learning hub, building upon the original Rakyat Digital portal introduced in 2024, which solely concentrated on digital literacy programs.

Adhering to the 3A approach (Awareness, Access, and Adoption), the portal integrates learning opportunities with practical resources. It can be accessed via the same URL (https://rakyatdigital.gov.my), now featuring dedicated hubs for distinct purposes. The Digital Literacy Hub contains the existing digital literacy platform, offering free AI-focused courses to help Malaysians gain foundational knowledge in the digital and AI economy.

The Digital Skills Hub provides more specialized training, encompassing both free and paid courses in technical and non-technical digital competencies, including an Executive Digital Leadership Programme in partnership with Asia School of Business (ASB).

Additionally, the AI Builder hub supports hands-on exploration, development, and showcase of AI-enabled products. However, this platform remains under construction. The portal also incorporates assessments to gauge users' proficiency levels. Ongoing improvements are set to include more learning materials and ecosystem collaborations.

Among the exciting offerings is the AI Untuk Rakyat program, which provides eligible users with free three-month subscriptions to AI applications, contingent on their successful completion of five specified courses. These courses include "AI Safety", "CyberSAFE Untuk Rakyat", "Generative AI", "Agentic AI For All", and "Cloud Untuk Rakyat".

Registration for this program will open on August 31, 2026, for Malaysians aged 18 to 30, with an expected impact of reaching 100,000 youths nationwide. The government is also providing the Global Learning Pass, granting free access to Coursera's upskilling and professional development courses for three months to 100,000 Malaysians in four cohorts, with the first cohort commencing on September 16, 2026.

Interested participants can sign up by supplying their email addresses. To access the portal's services and enroll in courses, users need to create an account using their MyDigital ID. Existing users of the previous platform retain their progress, certificates, and badges upon migration to the new portal, with the exception of potential email verification and profile updates.
