Nations FC still undergoing changes ahead of new season – Logarušić

Nations FC head coach Zdravko Logarušić has disclosed that his team is still in the midst of significant changes as he seeks to assemble a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts for the 2026/27 Division One League season. The club confirmed the appointment of Logarušić, a former Asante Kotoko head coach, following their relegation from the top tier. Despite playing in the lower division, the Abrankese side has secured a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup after defeating Dreams FC to win the FA Cup.

Logarušić explained that the club initially had a large number of players on the roster, ranging from 40 to 50, before reducing the squad. Currently, the team consists of 26 players and 4 goalkeepers. The coach anticipates making one or two more signings to further strengthen the team. However, adapting to a new environment and working with unfamiliar players poses its own set of challenges. Logarušić acknowledged that it takes time to fully understand the players and make necessary adjustments.

With the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup just around the corner, Logarušić emphasized the importance of observing the team's weaknesses and making improvements promptly. He noted that the African games are approaching swiftly, leaving limited time for comprehensive assessments. The coach further revealed that the club is still evaluating several players, making it challenging to accurately gauge the team's preparedness at this stage.

Nations FC faces Mali's FC Diarra in the first preliminary round of the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup, with the first leg scheduled to be played in Bamako. If they progress, they will face the winner of a tie between Niger's AS Zam and Burkina Faso's ASKO de Kara in the second preliminary round.
