N. Korea again skips missile launch report

North Korea remained silent on its missile launch that occurred the day prior, marking the second consecutive instance of the country failing to announce such a launch. The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) and the Rodong Sinmun, the primary source of information in the nation, had not reported on the launch by 7 a.m. However, this was not an entirely unusual occurrence, as North Korea has occasionally refrained from commenting on launches they deem minor or lacking in propaganda value.

South Korea's military detected the missile launched from North Korea's eastern coastal city of Wonsan around 6 a.m. on Wednesday. The missile traveled over 700 kilometers, according to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, with a comprehensive analysis of its specifications currently underway. This marked North Korea's second launch from the Wonsan area within a week, with the other launch held on Thursday and also met with Pyongyang's silence.

The two launches took place before the Ulchi Freedom Shield, an annual joint military exercise between South Korea and the United States that Pyongyang has consistently denounced as a rehearsal for an invasion.
