Murad vows action over police, medico-legal lapses as Mir Raza murder probe progresses

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has assured the family of Mir Raza Ali that they will be kept informed at every stage of the murder investigation, according to reports. The CM made this promise during a media briefing at the Arts Council Karachi, where he discussed the National Minorities Day conference.

The chief minister clarified that a proposed judicial commission was not intended to investigate the murder case, but rather to identify any lapses on the part of the police and medico-legal authorities. Shah had previously sent the home minister and Karachi mayor to meet Mir Raza's parents before announcing the formation of the commission, only to respect their decision when they declined to participate.

Investigators have received the chemical analysis report from the first post-mortem examination, which confirmed traces of acid and gunshot residue on the deceased's shirt. They plan to conduct geofencing in Gulistan-i-Jauhar to track possible movements of individuals around the time of the crime, and are also seeking call data records from the victim's cell phone. Two new police officials, DSP Siraj Lashari and Inspector Mohammed Ali, have been added to the investigation team led by DIG Amir Farooqui.
