MTN Ghana fulfils GH¢2.5m promise to flood victims with relief supplies

MTN Ghana has honored its commitment to provide GH¢2.5 million worth of relief supplies to individuals impacted by recent floods. The company presented 1,400 relief boxes and 1,400 mattresses to families affected by the disaster. The boxes contained essential items such as food, detergents, and blankets, aimed at assisting those who lost personal belongings and household essentials.

The items were received by the Deputy Chief of Staff for Administration, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, and the Presidential Adviser to President John Dramani Mahama. The pledge emerged shortly after the disaster, as the extent of destruction in Accra became evident. Floods affected not only the capital but also other regions, including the Central Region.

The loss extended beyond damaged buildings, with furniture, bedding, clothing, food, and other essential possessions destroyed. MTN Ghana's CEO, Stephen Blewett, emphasized the company's solidarity with affected families, stating that the intervention aimed to show that these families were not alone in their recovery efforts. The 1,400 mattresses and relief boxes will provide basic sleeping arrangements and meet urgent food and household needs.

Nana Oye Bampoe Addo expressed gratitude to MTN Ghana for its timely intervention, assuring that the relief items would reach the intended beneficiaries. The gesture represents MTN Ghana's broader corporate social responsibility efforts through the MTN Foundation, demonstrating the company's commitment to supporting communities during crises.
