MP Teachers: DPI Tightens E-Attendance Rules, Makes 6-Hour Duty Mandatory

The Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) in Madhya Pradesh has recently intensified its e-attendance system for teachers and other school employees. To enforce stricter compliance, the department has made it mandatory for all staff members to complete six hours of work while marking their attendance solely through the official Humare Shikshak mobile application.

This shift in policy follows complaints of teachers engaging in unauthorized practices such as marking attendance via the education portal's website and using fictitious locations to register their presence.

Addressing these issues, the DPI initiated corrective measures by issuing guidelines on Monday through a video conference call. Teachers and school employees are now expected to record their attendance between 9:45 am and 10:45 am, with any attendance recorded after the stipulated time considered invalid. The responsibility for any late attendance falls upon the employee responsible for not adhering to the set schedule.

In addition to these attendance reforms, the DPI has issued a caution to teachers and students due to the adverse weather conditions brought by heavy rains and rising water levels across the state. It advises against crossing swollen rivers, streams, or water bodies to mark attendance or reach schools. Teachers have been explicitly told that if they cannot reach their schools due to inundated waterways, they should notify the school principal and Sankul principal instead of risking their safety for the sake of e-attendance.
