Mizoram PSC indefinitely postpones recruitment exams amid students’ agitation

The Mizoram Public Service Commission (MPSC) has indefinitely postponed several recruitment exams due to an ongoing agitation by the Mizo Zirlai Pawl (ZPM) student organization. Student representatives have been picketing the commission's office since Monday, preventing staff from entering. In response, the MPSC suspended various recruitment activities and deferred scheduled programs.

Examinations for Group C posts under different departments are at risk due to the inability to distribute prepared question papers. Personal interviews for specific positions have also been postponed. The MZP has demanded structural reforms and additional manpower to enhance the commission's efficiency. They proposed scrapping the existing online registration system and suggested a new application method.

However, the MPSC rejected these demands, stating that discontinuing the OTR system would create complications and undermine the fairness of the recruitment process. The commission also expressed concern over the disruption affecting candidates appearing for personal interviews and written exams, potentially delaying promotions.

While acknowledging the candidates' struggles, the MPSC cited steps taken to improve application scrutiny and requested additional staff to thoroughly check submitted documents. They urged the student body to end the agitation and restrictions limiting staff from entering the office.
