Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood downplayed the Ohio State rivalry during an interview with NBC Sports. He described the upcoming match as "just another game," emphasizing that they are "guys in a different color." Underwood acknowledged that the previous loss to Ohio State, where they were defeated 27-9, was disappointing. He attributed this outcome to his performance, noting that he had only 63 passing yards and no touchdowns, while also throwing an interception.

Despite the intensity of college football, which he described as a mentally and physically taxing sport, Underwood maintained that The Game is no different. He stressed the importance of staying mentally and physically strong throughout the match, emphasizing that quitting or giving up is not an option. Underwood also noted that he did not engage in the typical animosity that often accompanies this rivalry.

Unlike Ohio State, which often crossed out the letter M or refused to use the team's name during rivalry week, Michigan's coach Kyle Whittingham and his quarterback demonstrated a more level-headed approach. Whittingham acknowledged the intense and emotional nature of the rivalry, but he firmly stated that he did not want to see any hatred or negative feelings on either side.
