Michelle and Flávio Bolsonaro appear together for the first time since their June rift

Michelle Bolsonaro, the former first lady of Brazil, and her son Flávio, a presidential candidate for the Liberal Party, reunited in public for the first time since their discord in late June. The encounter occurred at the party's headquarters in Brasília, where they captured campaign footage and joined in prayer. Michelle emphasized that their disagreements were set aside, acknowledging that "no family is perfect."

She affirmed her commitment to supporting Flávio's campaign, promising her participation in social media and invoking the support of women across Brazil. The rift began when Michelle released a video in June, alleging mistreatment and humiliation by Flávio over internal party matters. Flávio subsequently posted an apology video, inviting her to rejoin the campaign, which he did, though they had not shared a public moment together until this encounter.

Michelle Bolsonaro, who heads PL Mulher, the women's division of the Liberal Party, holds significant influence with evangelical and female constituents. She was nominated as a Senate candidate for the Federal District on August 2, although she could not attend due to hospitalization; her speech was delivered by her brother. This reunion is particularly noteworthy as it occurs four days before the start of the official campaign period for Brazil's October elections.

Flávio Bolsonaro is currently facing challenges, as he is competing against former governor Ronaldo Caiado, Romeu Zema, and political figure Renan Santos for conservative votes. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the incumbent, maintains a strong lead in the polls. Jair Bolsonaro, Michelle's husband and Flávio's father, is currently under house arrest for attempting a coup, and he is barred from running for office.

President Lula is scheduled to launch his campaign at the stadium in São Bernardo do Campo, while Flávio Bolsonaro will commence his campaign at Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro.
