Man City sign goalkeeper Rulli from Marseille

Manchester City has finalized the signing of Argentina goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli from Marseille. The 34-year-old former Villarreal star will sign a two-year contract at the Etihad Stadium. BBC Sport reported that City have paid a fee of £1.7m for his services. This move comes as a replacement for James Trafford, who departed City to join Leeds in a deal worth up to £45m. Rulli will serve as the understudy to current first-choice goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Rulli expressed his excitement about joining Manchester City, stating that it is an incredible opportunity that he had to seize. He praised the club's impressive history and the high standards set by the organization. Rulli has previously scored a penalty in the 2021 Europa League final victory over Manchester United, as well as denying David de Gea in a shootout.

He has earned eight caps for Argentina and was part of the teams that won the 2022 World Cup and 2024 Copa America. Rulli has also had stints at clubs including Real Sociedad, Montpellier, and Ajax.
