Lucy Davis urges women to check their breasts for cancer - here's how

Actress Lucy Davis, known for her role as Dawn Tinsley in the UK version of The Office, has been diagnosed with incurable breast cancer that has spread to her bones. On Instagram, the 53-year-old actress shared that the initial lump she felt was not a traditional lump, but rather a small hard spot. The National Health Service (NHS) advises women to conduct monthly breast checks to familiarize themselves with their body's normal appearance and feel.

Changes such as lumps, skin dimpling, changes in size or shape, nipple discharge, inverted nipples, or pain should prompt further attention. When examining breasts, it is essential to check them in a mirror with arm positions varying from sides to raised positions. Using circular motions, feel around each breast and under the armpits with both light and firmer pressure. Remember, abnormal changes may be harder to detect on darker skin tones.
