LEGO Reveals Nike Air Force 1 Set With a New Version of the Classic Spaceman Minifigure

LEGO has unveiled a new set inspired by Nike’s famous Air Force 1 sneaker, set to release on September 1. The 1,093-piece set will not have preorders, and is priced at $99.99, which works out to be under 10 cents per brick. Images of the set can be found on LEGO’s website, as shown below.

Though this collaboration with Nike is unsurprising, this particular set is the first based on one of the brand’s most popular sneakers. As with previous Nike collaborations, the Air Force 1 set doesn’t just feature a white shoe to build, but rather a "scene" with the sneaker launching like a rocket. A standout feature is the new version of the Classic Spaceman minifigure, which can be posed to shoot hoops on top of the AF1 logo.

The sneaker appears to be based on the low-top version of the Air Force 1, although a strap inspired by mid or high-top versions could have added more personality.

While the base color scheme remains white, the Nike swoosh can be swapped for either gray (like the original colorway from 1982) or orange minifigures. Although the company opted for the classic white color, a gray or orange Nike swoosh is available. LEGO’s choice to stick with the base white color scheme may be a missed opportunity for added character. It remains to be seen whether this set captures the essence of the Air Force 1 sneaker.
