Kebbi attack: ‘We’ll not abandon families of slain police officers’ — Gov Idris

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has assured the families of ten police officers killed in a gun battle with suspected bandits that they will not be left alone. Idris made the assurance during a meeting with a delegation from the Nigeria Police Force, headed by Deputy Inspector-General Umar Shehu-Nadada, at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.

The 10 officers lost their lives during an encounter with bandits along the Rafin Makuku axis of Sakaba Local Government Area, after police intercepted the attackers moving between Zamfara and Kebbi states. The police confirmed that 17 bandits were neutralized during the clash, while four motorcycles and two civilians were also lost. Two police personnel sustained injuries.

Idris expressed deep sorrow for the loss of the officers and their families, reaffirming the tradition in Kebbi to support these families during their time of need. The governor pledged the state government's full support to the families of the fallen officers through this difficult period. He emphasized the state's commitment to ensuring no part of the state becomes a haven for terrorists or criminal elements.

The police delegation conveyed condolences from Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu, who assured the governor, the people of Kebbi, and the families that the police would continue their operations to track down those responsible for the attack and bring them to justice.
