JPJ to meet RXZ Members organisers over safety, improvements to motorcycle gathering

On August 12, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) announced plans to hold its inaugural meeting with organizers of the RXZ Members motorcycle gathering to address safety concerns and propose enhancements to the event, in response to a string of accidents linked to the occasion. RXZ Members' Senior Director of Enforcement, Datuk Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan, stated that the objective of the session was to gather the organisers' perspectives and suggest several improvements to the program, with a primary focus on road safety, not only for the participants but also for all road users. The engagement session is set to take place at the JPJ headquarters in Putrajaya today.

Earlier reports on August 2 highlighted JPJ's intention to intensify enforcement against participants of motorcycle gatherings, including holding an engagement session with the organisers following a series of accidents frequently associated with such events. RXJ Director-General Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli emphasized that the department was not opposed to the organization of motorcycling programs, but all participants were required to adhere to road laws and vehicle technical regulations.

Between July 30 and August 2, during the RXZ Members 8.0 program, 46 road accidents involving motorcyclists were reported. Out of these incidents, 11 cases (24%) resulted in fatalities, five cases (11%) involved serious injuries, and the remaining 30 cases (65%) resulted in minor injuries.
